YOUR ESSENTIAL PICKS FOR SUMMER ROSÉ
Memorial Day weekend has us digging through the attic for our white shoes, the barbeque tool set, and all the tiki torches. It also has us packing away the red wine until the leaves start changing and restocking the fridge with our favorite warm weather libation...the summer rosé. Scott and Tom from Provincetown's Perry's Wine + Liquors have rounded up their top picks of both flat and bubbly versions of this perfect summer tipple.
Pere et Fils
From the southwest of France, this rosé is driven by Sancerre and Syrah, it's a great value and crackling dry, fruit forward, with notes of melon and berry.
Rosé of Pinot Noir
Produced by a guy from Boston who now lives in California, the grapes this year are pinot noir from Mendocino, he allows 36 hours of skin contact before extracting the flesh which creates a bone dry, fruity and feminine rosé.
Perry's own label of rosé produced in the famed Bandol region in the south of France. Bandol has been the most long lived region producing French rosé and is unique in the use of the mourvèdre grape which produces a heartier and more robust rosé. This particular blend can stand up to a roast pork and ages well.
Produced in the Côte d'Azur, this is unique in the use of the Cinsault grape which produces a very elegant, bone dry, classic French rosé.
From the Willamette Valley in Oregon, a great value and classic example of rosés from this region, an easy drinking wine with notes of strawberry, watermelon, and peach.
From the southwest of France, this sparkling rosé is Syrah and Granache driven, it's a great entry level sparkling wine with notes of crisp strawberry and raspberry.
BILLECART - SALMON
This producer harks back to the 1700's, this is an extraordinary and elegant option with fine bubbles, if you are looking for a splurge sparkling rosé this is an exquisite pick.
RAVENTOS I BLANC
This wine comes from a gentleman trying to recreate the category of cava, it is made just outside of Barcelona and he insists it has to be produced to the strict standards of biodynamic. Pale in color with crisp fruit notes.
An extraordinary rose prosecco from Italy, it's a great value that has super fine bubbles like an expensive champagne, notes are berries, plum, violets and sage.
